President Duterte Tags Ilocano, Ilonggo Soldiers As The Best

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte believes that Ilocano and Ilonggo soldiers are the deadliest of the bunch and he thinks they should multiply more to ensure that the military continue to have good stock.

“Ang sundalo kasi natin sa Pilipinas, Ilocano pati Ilonggo. ‘Yung Ilonggo na laking Mindanao, hindi nakapunta ng ano, ‘yan ‘yung mga deadly. Eh Ilonggo, mga Ilonggo sa Capiz, ay mababait ang mga Ilonggo doon. Yung mga Ilonggo doon sa Cotabato, lintik ka kasi kakain ng atay ng tao,” said President Duterte in a speech in Sultan Kudarat.

In contrast, President Duterte said soldiers who come from the Visayas regions, including Cebuanos, were lazy and loves to drink palm wine.

“May mga ibang Bisaya eh, kahit Cebuano, bahala nang mayabang, hindi pa ako nakakita ng sundalong tamad, ay may-apply ka, huwag mong tanggapin. Gusto lang niyan uminom ng tuba,” said President Duterte.

To make sure that there would be more Ilocanos and Ilonggos for recruitment, the President said he ordered the local city government not to give birth control pills in their areas.

“So, sabi ko sa City Head, bawal ang magbigay ng pills diyan sa Ilocandia. Kay ‘yun source natin ng sundalo eh. Pati ‘yung Ilonggo. Walang pills pills. Sige, panganak kayo kay [kapag dako na?] sundalo,” said President Duterte in jest.
