Team Philippines Settle For 1-1 Record In Day 1 Of 2017 FIBA 3X3 World Cup
Team Philippines settles for a 1-1 record in Day 1 of the
2017 FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Nantes, France early Monday morning.
The four-man team is composed of Kobe Paras, Kiefer Ravena,
Jeron Teng and JR Quiñahan, faced Romania and France.
Led by Kobe Paras, the youngest player at the competition at
19 years old, who scored 12 points, the Philippine team pulled off a massive
upset against the seventh-best ranking in FIBA 3×3 competition Romania 21-15.
Cezar Baragau, on the other hand, spearheaded Romania’s
offense with five points.
Paras was impressive and showed his scoring prowess
throughout the whole game, but Ravena also came up big in the endgame.
The score was tied at 13 a piece before Ravena drive plus an
and-one situation made it 15-13 with a little over a minute left and he was not
finish yet, as he followed it up with a huge long bomb to push the score 17-13.
Then Paras applied the finishing kick with a shot from
downtown and two free throws.
France was just too much for the team Philippines to handle
as they control the tempo of the game from start to finish.
Next game for Team Philippines is on June 20, 2017, 7:40pm
vs Slovenia (June 21, 1:40 a.m. Manila Time) followed immediately by match
against El Salvador (June 21, 3:00 a.m. Manila Time).
