Philippines Rally Falls Short In Loss To Slovenia In FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2017
The Philippines lost 21-14 to Slovenia in pool play in the
FIBA 3x3 World Cup in Nantes, France on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time).
The Filipinos fell 5-0 to the Slovenians and at one point
looked ready to be blown out when the latter went up 15-7.
But Kobe Paras and the Team Philippines chipped away at the
deficit to come to within 15-11 after JR Quiñahan’s follow-up basket.
With a chance to draw nearer, Paras missed his layup, before
the Slovenians hit back-to-back 2-pointers to snuff out the Filipinos’ comeback
hopes.
Adin Kavgic closed the game with a bucket off an offensive
rebound with 1:20 left in the game.
Ravena led the Philippines with 7 points, while Paras had 4.
The loss dropped the Philippines to 4th place in Pool B,
well behind Slovenia and France, which are virtually assured of spots in the
next round with their superior point totals.
The Filipinos have one more game in hand, though, against
last-place El Salvador 3 a.m., Wednesday, Manila time.
